Edelman appoints new head of health practice

Edelman has promoted Ann Bartling as the new managing director (MD) of its healthcare practice London, following the recent departure of Paul Gittins.

Ms Bartling was formerly the deputy MD of the practice and has been part of the health team since 2010, when she transferred to London from Edelman's Chicago office, reports PRWeek.

She has been with the agency for more than a decade, experiencing its working culture on both sides of the Atlantic, and can boast a strong understanding of the challenges in the healthcare market and the needs of clients.

Ms Bartling said: "I welcome the chance to lead and nurture our smart and talented Edelman London Health team as we continue to find new ways to advance our clients' brands."

Her predecessor Mr Gittins joined Edelman in September 2013, but left less than three months later to become a consultant.

Formerly, the healthcare MD role was held by Steve Spurr, who vacated the position to concentrate on his responsibilities as Edelman UK chief operating officer.
