Edelman appoints new managing director for technology

Edelman has announced the appointment of Matt Hurst as managing director for the technology practice at Edelman UK.

Mr Hurst has been with the company since 2007 and has been credited with shaping thinking around influencer engagement, and social digital and multiscreen/multichannel content approaches.

He played a key role in executing training initiatives across the business's European operations and also boasts an impressive track record in client dealings, running both UK and international programmes across up to 50 countries on behalf of companies such as Microsoft, Motorola and Hewlett-Packard.

Steve Spurr, the firm's chief operating officer, said: "In the five years that Matt has been with Edelman, he has more than proven his skills as a dedicated PR practitioner, as well as being a talented role model and leader."

This comes after the Edelman group appointed former BBC tech editor Tim Weber as a director of A&R Edelman, its boutique technology operation.
