Edelman confirms departure of global tech head
Edelman has confirmed that its global tech chair Maria Amundson is to leave the agency next month, kicking off a search for a successor.
Ms Amundson took over the role in 2014 after three years running its operations in Silicon Valley, but has now opted to step down due to personal reasons, including a desire to join her husband on sabbatical, according to The Holmes Report.
The agency is now on the lookout for a replacement who can provide strong creative and strategic credentials, deep knowledge of multichannel media and content development, and leadership experience in managing cross-practice, cross-functional teams.
As the world's largest PR firm, Edelman works with some of the biggest tech brands in the world, including PayPal, eBay, Samsung, Microsoft, Juniper, Symantec, AMD and Rackspace.
Technology remains one of its most important business areas, albeit one that it evolving at a rapid pace.
Edelman's president of practices and sectors Ben Boyd said: "The definition of technology is different than it was five years ago – we're playing more team sports across fin-tech, food and beverage and health."
