Edelman hires former Pfizer public affairs head as senior director

Edelman has announced the appointment of Alan Maine as a senior director in its London health team, strengthening its health public affairs capabilities.

Mr Maine joins the agency from Pfizer UK, where he served as head of policy and public affairs for the past eight years. He was responsible for government affairs and market access policy development activity, covering both corporate and therapy area public affairs.

During his time at Pfizer, he also worked with industry associations on several campaigns, policies and initiatives relating to access to medicines.

In his new role at Edelman, Mr Maine will oversee the agency's health policy, public affairs and advocacy offering within a 55-strong team, focusing on the UK market. He will also collaborate with the public affairs practice, led by Will Walden.

Kate Hawker, managing director for Edelman UK, said: "We are very excited about Alan joining Edelman as he brings with him such great knowledge and insight of the complex challenges in the UK."

This represents the first major hire announced by Ms Hawker since her appointment by Edelman last year.
