Edelman’s global head of health departs to take on Vertex role

Edelman has confirmed the departure of its global health sector chair Kimberly White, who has taken up a new role with Vertex Pharmaceuticals.

Ms White has spent the last seven years at Edelman, heading a global healthcare team of 600 people. During her time at the company, she developed and implemented a variety of international communications programmes for healthcare industry organisations.

Prior to Edelman, she served as chief communications officer of Baxter, and also spent more than 15 years with Ogilvy PR Worldwide. She was recognised as one of the top ten health influencers by PRWeek.

She has been tasked with leading global corporate communications for Vertex, spanning product communications, media relations, digital and social communications, internal communications, corporate social responsibility and community affairs.

Michael Parini, executive vice-president and chief legal and administrative officer of Vertex Pharmaceuticals, said: "Kym has the skill, management capabilities and industry acumen we need to evolve our communications efforts as Vertex continues to emerge as a leading global biotechnology company."

Edelman has stated that a search for Ms White's replacement is currently underway.
