Eisai’s Morphotek subsidiary wins sustainability award

5th February 2013

Eisai's US subsidiary Morphotek has been selected as the category winner in sustainability as part of the 2013 Facility of the Year Awards.

The pharmaceuticals company's pilot plant for the production of the biological-based therapeautics was recognised as part of the proceedings, which are the global industry's premier awards programme dedicated to innovation and accomplishments in construction, operation and facility design.

Morphotek's project was selected as the category winner for sustainability from a group of 27 entries from various international destinations.

It was recognised for three outstanding features, including the fact it was constructed on a brownfield site – giving new life to a previously abandoned and contaminated facility through soil remediation.

Furthermore, building materials used for the plant were purchased within 500 miles of the building to decrease the amount of energy used for shipping.

Eisai originally acquired the US biotechnology company in March 2007 as part of wider plans to gain potential new treatments for cancer.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801534704-ADNFCR
