Elanco launches education tool on canine parasites

29th July 2014

Elanco has announced the introduction of a new education tool that provides vets with information on common parasites affecting domestic dogs.

Available either as a booklet or in a tablet-friendly electronic edition, the resource focuses particularly on endoparasites, including roundworm, hookworm, whipworm, heartworm, lungworm, tapeworm and fleas.

The information includes details on the lifecycle of the parasites, how they develop and symptoms and sources of infection, as well as guidance on whether the parasites are a risk to pets and humans, and illustrations demonstrating the appearance of the organisms.

It will help veterinary professionals when they are advising clients on the benefits of regular parasite control.

Matthew Rowe, senior brand manager at Elanco Companion Animal Health, said: "The new common parasites of dogs education tool will help veterinary professionals advise their clients about parasites and the benefits of routine worming and flea treatments."

This comes after the firm released a series of short films earlier this month offering guidance on how to administer vet-prescribed ear drops and routinely clean pets' ears.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801738369-ADNFCR
