Elanco provides over 1,400 hours of voluntary work on 2016 Day of Service

22nd December 2016

Elanco has highlighted the success of its recent Day of Service, an annual event it organises to help its staff get involved in volunteer work for charitable causes.

A total of 214 members of Elanco's UK staff carried out 1,409 hours of voluntary work in support of ten food security and animal companionship charities during the day, including Elanco's chosen partner charities FareShare and Dogs for Good.

Examples of activities included planting vegetables, helping to renovate buildings and cycling for 24 hours. One initiative saw volunteers spend time at six FareShare depots across the UK, aiding its work to redirect in-date surplus from the food industry to charities and community groups.

Meanwhile, 12 volunteers took part in the 24-hour Spinathon cycling event at the head office of Dogs for Good, with other staff getting involved in baking for an accompanying coffee morning.

Dogs for Good is dedicated to supporting people with disabilities and communities through the help of specially-trained assistance dogs that help to encourage activity and therapy participation.

Gaynor Hillier, UK and Ireland affiliate director at Elanco Animal Health, said: "Time is such a precious commodity, so it's extremely refreshing and rewarding to donate hours of the day to good causes."
