Elsevier appoints science and technology division CEO

Elsevier has announced that Ron Mobed is to be appointed as the chief executive officer (CEO) of its science and technology business unit.

Mr Mobed, the former president of the academic and professional group at Cengage Learning, will take up the role on April 4th 2011 and brings extensive business experience to the science and medical information services provider.

Other prior roles occupied by the new CEO include that of co-president and chief operating officer of Information Handling Services, as well as a number of key positions at Schlumberger.

Erik Engstrom, CEO of Reed Elsevier, expressed confidence that the firm will be well served by Mr Mobed's expertise.

"We are fortunate to have an executive who has … a track record in leveraging quality information, technology and customer insight to create valuable solutions for customers," he said.
