Elsevier pleased with success of new publication

9th December 2009

Elsevier has announced that its new pharmacology textbook has been quickly accepted by industry experts and medical professionals.

Pharmacology and Therapeutics: Principles to Practice was released earlier this year and includes contributions from many leading figures in the field, including the book’s editors Dr Scott Waldman and Dr Andre Terzic.

According to Elsevier, the publication has received “critical acclaim” and established a place alongside other respected textbooks on the subject in just a few short months.

Writing in the foreword, Nobel laureate Ferid Murad describes the volume as “a superb textbook bridging basic and clinical pharmacology, from classic principles to future concepts”.

The book has also received praise from the British Journal of Hospital Medicine, which was impressed by its “good selection of references to original research and review articles”.

In addition, the journal commended Elsevier for making the entire text available online.

The company recently unveiled an updated version of Embase, the biomedical database resource that features over 20 million records from approximately 7,000 active journals.
