FleishmanHillard and Burson-Marsteller win Fitbit brief

3rd June 2015

FleishmanHillard and Burson-Marsteller have won a new contract with fitness technology firm Fitbit at a strategically crucial point for the company.

The client, which produces activity trackers and other wireless-enabled devices that measure walking distance, sleep patterns and other personal health data, is currently preparing for an initial public offering (IPO), while also dealing with legal issues.

FleishmanHillard has been tasked with handling PR for Fitbit's range of bestselling devices, while Burson-Marsteller is working on business-to-business activities, such as selling Fitbit into corporate wellness programmes, according to The Holmes Report.

Having reported a revenue total of $336.8 million (219.93 million pounds) for the first quarter of the calendar year, the company filed for an IPO of up to $100 million last month.

It is also currently fending off a lawsuit from rival company Jawbone, which claims Fitbit stole business and product plans by poaching a number of its employees.

The firm has denied the allegations, saying: "As the pioneer and leader in the connected health and fitness market, Fitbit has no need to take information from Jawbone or any other company."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801789890-ADNFCR
