Forest Laboratories appoints new CEO and president

Forest Laboratories has announced the appointment of Brent Saunders as its new chief executive officer (CEO) and president, effective from October 1st 2013.

Mr Saunders has been selected as the the successor to Howard Solomon and joins the company after previously serving as CEO of Bausch and Lomb from 2010 to August 2013, when the eye care firm was acquired by Valeant Pharmaceuticals.

Prior to this, he worked for companies such as Schering-Plough and PricewaterhouseCoopers, while he has also served as a Forest director since 2011 and is currently the business's compensation committee chairman and a compliance committee member, roles he will vacate when he becomes CEO.

Kenneth Goodman, the company's presiding independent director, said: "He is strategic, innovative, experienced and the right leader for Forest today. We are confident he will drive growth and even greater success for the company, its shareholders and our employees."

Outgoing CEO Mr Solomon will retire from the company at the end of the year, having served as its leader since 1977.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801636074-ADNFCR
