Foxconn seeks UK comms support ahead of Nokia N1 tablet launch
Foxconn, the Taiwanese technology group, is looking for a UK comms partner ahead of the forthcoming launch of the Nokia N1 tablet.
According to The Holmes Report, the firm is seeking marketing and communications agency support in the UK, with some holding groups responding to the brief via a multi-agency team. The company is planning to introduce the N1 in Europe this year.
The N1 device represents Nokia's first tablet and follows the sale of the Finnish company's mobile business to Microsoft. Foxconn is handling the production, marketing and sale of the Nokia-designed devices.
It proved a sellout success upon its launch earlier this year in China, where Foxconn tasked Burson-Marsteller with handling PR, corporate and issues support. Nokia's most recent PR activities have been managed by Cohn and Wolfe.
Nokia and Foxconn are hoping the N1 will be able to capitalise on the growth of the tablet market and will provide Nokia with a valuable new revenue stream at a time when it is prevented from making smartphones until 2016, under the terms of its deal with Microsoft.
