Fresenius to acquire Euromedic’s IDC dialysis business

6th January 2011

Fresenius has agreed a deal to acquire International Dialysis Centers (IDC), the dialysis service business of Euromedic International.

The transaction has been valued at 485 million euros (410.1 million pounds) and is expected to add around 180 million euros to Fresenius' annual revenue once the deal closes in mid-2011.

IDC operates a total of 70 clinics in nine different nations and occupies a market-leading position in Eastern Europe, a region which Fresenius has identified as an important part of its growth strategy.

The takeover will allow Fresenius to expand its presence in the dialysis care market, while helping Euromedic to concentrate on its key business areas of diagnostics and cancer treatment.

Ben Lipps, chief executive officer of Fresenius Medical Care, said: "We are convinced that Euromedic's clinic network will be an excellent fit with those of Fresenius Medical Care."

This comes after the company completed its takeover of Gambro's worldwide peritoneal dialysis business unit last week.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800327030-ADNFCR
