GDC launches interactive site focusing on new dental standards

21st January 2014

The General Dental Council has announced the launch of a new site that will help dental professionals to get up to speed on the recently-introduced Standards for the Dental Team.

Featuring case studies and FAQs, the interactive online resource has been designed to help registrants test their knowledge of the standards, which were introduced in September 2013 following intensive consultation with patients and the public.

Learning materials for each of the nine principles are included, as well as special training scenarios in which dentists are asked to consider hypothetical situations and figure out the best way to remain compliant with the standards.

The GDC said: "If a complaint is made about a dental professional, their behaviour/conduct will be measured against the standards and guidance in this document. It is therefore vital that registrants are familiar with the nine principles."

Comprising 12 members, the council is responsible for regulating dentists and dental care professionals in the UK, including dental technicians, hygienists, dental nurses and dental/orthodontic therapists.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801684613-ADNFCR
