GDC soliciting interest in dentistry risk evaluation

12th August 2011

The General Dental Council (GDC) is calling for interested parties to come forward to assist a planned assessment of risk in UK dentistry.

A three-stage process has been outlined by the regulator that will see the GDC evaluate and select a contractor to carry out the important new project, with expressions of interest to be solicited until September 9th 2011.

According to the organisation, the purpose of the study will be to support efforts to create a new model for the revalidation for dentists, based on a deeper understanding of the risks involved.

This model is intended to be "workable, proportionate and cost-effective", while the findings from the research will also inform the GDC's policy development activity on a wider scale.

Earlier this month, the GDC launched an online questionnaire to encourage dentists to contribute to its current review of its continuing professional development (CPD) policies.

It will aim to gather opinions on the most effective forms of CPD and the best ways of monitoring and evaluating them.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800698807-ADNFCR
