GDC’s finance and performance committee chair resigns

1st July 2016

The General Dental Council (GDC) has announced that Michael Carroll, the chair of its finance and performance committee, is to step down.

Having been appointed in October 2013, the council member will be departing the role in October this year, due to personal commitments that have made it difficult to continue his work with the dental regulator.

Since his appointment, the GDC has been able to significantly improve its management information and financial forecasting capabilities – progress that has been credited in large part to Mr Carroll.

This was achieved through the introduction of new business processes and a range of performance management tools, and it is expected that the improvement work he commenced will continue after his departure.

Ian Brack, chief executive of the GDC, said: "We are now in a position where we have a far better understanding of our productivity and costs, and through improved forecasting, we can identify problems earlier so we are able to take the necessary action."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801821259-ADNFCR
