GE Healthcare agrees takeover of Monica Healthcare

14th March 2017

GE Healthcare has announced the acquisition of Monica Healthcare, a deal that will help to expand GE Healthcare's capabilities in the field of maternal-infant care.

Monica Healthcare is a medical technology company based in the UK, offering wearable wireless foetal monitoring devices that provide vital information for midwives, labour and delivery nurses, and expectant mothers.

These devices are used at approximately 1,000 sites across Europe, Asia and North America at present, with more than 100,000 patients benefiting from the use of this technology last year alone.

Since 2015, GE Healthcare has acted as Monica's North American distribution partner for its Novii Wireless Patch System, which is used to monitor maternal and foetal heart rates, as well as uterine activity.

Tammy Noll, general manager of GE Healthcare's maternal-infant care division, said: "Through this acquisition, we will combine the incredible expertise and mobile-digital innovation from the Monica team with GE Healthcare's longstanding industry leadership and customer focus."
