GE Healthcare and NIBRT open new biomanufacturing training centre
GE Healthcare has announced a partnership with Ireland's National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT) to open a new training centre.
The NIBRT-GE Single-Use Centre of Excellence will begin offering training activities this autumn, with up to 1,500 professionals expected to receive training annually on the use of the latest technologies.
Its work will support GE BioPark Cork – a GE-managed campus including four prefabricated biologics factories owned by independent biopharma companies – with the NIBRT training centre to be instrumental in instructing personnel about the technologies that will be used at BioPark.
The overall aim of this collaboration will be to further boost biomanufacturing skills and expertise in Ireland, Europe and globally, while bolstering Ireland's status as one of the world's top biopharmaceutical manufacturing locations.
David Radspinner, general manager for the BioPark facility at GE Healthcare, said: "We need to foster innovation and partner with the best to respond to this need – with the NIBRT partnership and GE BioPark Cork, we are doing exactly this."
The partnership will initially run for three years, with a plan in place to upgrade the equipment after that, meaning NIBRT will continue to have access to top-of-the-line equipment.
