GE Healthcare and Partners HealthCare announce AI collaboration

GE Healthcare has formed an AI-focused alliance with Partners HealthCare, an integrated health system founded by Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital.

The ten-year collaboration aims to rapidly develop, validate and strategically integrate deep learning technology to enhanced patient care, with an initial focus on applications to improve clinician productivity and patient outcomes in diagnostic imaging.

Over time, new business models for applying AI to healthcare will be developed, with products created for specific medical specialties including molecular pathology, genomics and population health.

Using AI to enhance the patient experience could yield numerous benefits, from decreasing unnecessary biopsies to streamlining workflows to allow clinicians to spend more time with patients, rather than on administrative tasks.

As part of the work, the partners will create an open platform on which third-party developers can rapidly prototype, validate and share applications with hospitals and clinics around the world.
