GE Healthcare completes CHCA Computer Systems takeover
GE Healthcare has completed the acquisition of CHCA Computer Systems, a leading developer of operating room management and analytics solutions.
Headquartered in Canada, the company is responsible for creating the Opera software application, which provides real-time data to support decision-making and surgical procedure management.
The takeover follows GE Healthcare's acquisition of API Healthcare earlier this year and aligns with its industrial internet strategy and commitment to invest in innovative businesses to enhance its software footprint.
Solutions such as Opera can help to reduce waiting times, prevent cancellations and increase patient throughput.
Jan De Witte, president and chief executive officer of GE Healthcare's IT business, said the acquisition "will allow us to deliver a more integrated offering that better connects the workflow throughout the operating room, using a mix of software, real-time data and powerful analytics to help drive better outcomes for patients".
The firm has acquired a number of businesses in the last few months, including UK health and social care consultancy Finnemore.
