GE Healthcare launches CardioGraphe cardiovascular CT system

31st March 2017

GE Healthcare has announced the launch of CardioGraphe, a new cardiovascular computed tomography (CT) system developed in partnership with Arineta.

The new device represents the world’s first dedicated cardiovascular CT system and has been designed to be affordable and accessible for users in the hospital, chest pain emergency or point-of-care settings.

It can create a 3D image of the coronaries, valves, chambers and myocardium from a single heartbeat and can also perform CT angiography studies beyond the heart, including the aorta and carotids.

The rotation speed of 0.24 seconds is the fastest currently available on the market, while the SnapShot Freeze motion correction software freezes coronary artery motion for patients with high or unstable heart rates.

As such, physicians can use the system to deliver information about heart function and anatomic detail, allowing them to plan procedures such as percutaneous coronary interventions and transcatheter aortic valve replacements.

Scott Schubert, general manager for GE Healthcare's global premium CT business, said: "Cardiovascular disease is a huge concern, and our goal is to improve access to high quality imaging solutions by providing cost effective tools that help physicians confidently and efficiently diagnose and treat these patients."
