GE Healthcare launches Discovery RT for radiation therapy planning

23rd October 2015

GE Healthcare has announced the launch of a new advanced radiation therapy planning computed tomography (CT) system.

Discovery RT is a cutting-edge CT simulator that enables flexible patient positioning, with software to address challenges presented by patient motion and metal, thus enabling precise treatment planning and an efficient workflow.

Its CT Simulation functionality is used to duplicate the radiation-treatment machine in terms of its geometric, mechanical and optical properties by creating a three-dimensional image data set.

This data can then used by clinicians to localise the tumour and plan treatment without needing the patient to be physically present.

Other key Discovery RT features include an 80 cm bore with an 80 cm field-of-view and its Smart Deviceless 4D technology, delivering workflow efficiency and patient comfort.

Shelley Shih, general manager of FastWorks and RT for GE Healthcare's molecular imaging and computed tomography business, said: "We are committed to developing products that help clinicians address the challenges they are confronted with every day through high image quality, wide bore and efficient workflow featured in the Discovery RT."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801803995-ADNFCR
