GE Healthcare names new president and CEO
GE Healthcare has announced the appointment of Kieran Murphy as its new president and chief executive officer (CEO).
Mr Murphy is the current president and CEO of GE Healthcare Life Sciences and has been with the organisation since 2008, taking up leadership of the life sciences business in April 2011.
Over the last six years, he has overseen significant revenue growth and geographic expansion of the firm's molecular medicine business, which now accounts for more than $4 billion in annual sales.
Mr Murphy can offer more than 20 years of experience in the global life sciences and biotechnology industry, with former employers including Janssen, Mallinckrodt, Vericore, Novartis, Adprotech, ML Laboratories and Innovata.
He has been promoted to the top job within the $20 billion GE Healthcare business to succeed John Flannery, who has been appointed chairman and CEO elect of the broader GE group, replacing Jeff Immelt.
Mr Immelt said: "Alongside the outstanding team at GE Healthcare, we anticipate that the business will experience continued global growth under Kieran's leadership."
