GE Healthcare opens new technology lab in Stevenage
GE Healthcare has announced the official opening of its new GE Healthcare Life Sciences Technology Laboratory in Stevenage.
Located at Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst, the UK's first open innovation bioscience campus, the facility spans 1,000 sq ft and will be staffed by technical specialists, as well as being open to researchers who are based at the campus.
It will allow GE Healthcare's UK and European customers to evaluate the company's technologies and take advantage of advanced on-site technical training facilities, while fostering a culture of open innovation.
The lab was officially opened by Sir William Castell, chairman of the Wellcome Trust, one of the backers of the Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst, alongside GlaxoSmithKline, the Technology Strategy Board and the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills.
Kieran Murphy, chief executive officer of GE Healthcare Life Sciences, said: "I'm delighted that our new laboratory is at the heart of the Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst, where we can both demonstrate our latest thinking in technology to the life sciences research community."
Last month, the company attended the Anesthesiology 2013 conference in San Francisco, where it showcased its latest innovations in anaesthesia delivery and patient monitoring.
