GE Healthcare showcases elastography-enabled Logiq E9
GE Healthcare has introduced a new version of its Logiq E9 ultrasound platform which includes elastography functionality for more flexible examination methods.
Displaying the new device at the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine’s 2010 Annual Convention, the firm stated that the new device can provide information on internal tissue structures without the need for invasive procedures.
It functions through the use of a high frequency E-series transducer with a simple compression technique, making elastography a more straightforward means of examination.
Brian McEathron, general manager of general imaging and ultrasound at GE Healthcare, said: “The Logiq E9 helps give doctors a digital interpretation of the physical exam that can be easier to reproduce in follow-up examinations by either the original physician or other clinicians.”
Other features to be included on the new system include Volume Navigation needle tracking, allowing for more accurate results.
Earlier this month, the firm revealed Innova EPVision, a system which combines X-ray images and 3D models in real time to provide visual data for surgeons and physicians.
