GE Healthcare signs supply agreement with Sartorius Stedim Biotech
GE Healthcare has signed a global original equipment manufacturer (OEM) supply agreement for Sartorius Stedim Biotech's innovative membrane adsorber purification technology, Sartobind.
The deal will see Sartorius Stedim Biotech manufacture membrane adsorber technologies for GE Healthcare's life sciences division, which will be marketed as part of GE's ReadyToProcess product offerings.
Membrane adsorber ion-exchange technology of this kind is widely used for the removal of contaminants such as endotoxins and viruses during the production of protein-based drugs, and can offer manufacturers advantages compared to other techniques.
This will help pharmaceutical industry clients to reduce costs, increase efficiency and improve the quality of their products.
Catarina Flyborg, bioprocess downstream product leader at GE Healthcare's life sciences business, said: "We're excited to be working with Sartorius Stedim Biotech and to be able to expand our toolbox with their innovative technologies."
This comes after the firm recently signed an innovative value-based radiology services collaboration agreement with Temple University Health System in the US.
