GE Healthcare to supply MRI technology for Beijing Olympics

6th March 2008

General Electric division GE Healthcare announced this week it has been chosen as the sole supplier of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology for this year’s Beijing Olympics.

All competing athletes from across the globe will have access to the Signa HDe 1.5T technologies, which are to be installed at the Olympic Village General Hospital.

GE highlighted its role in the past decade as a valuable supplier of MRI products and how these help to diagnose sports-related injuries.

Combined with other imaging devices, GE can offer a total medical solution for professional athletes, it claimed.

“Using GE Healthcare technology and expertise, clinicians can detect and diagnose injury and disease earlier and ensure better patient care,” said Chih Chen, GE Healthcare China’s president.

Mr Chen added that customer feedback had helped the company to realise the importance of providing athletes with Signa HDe 1.5T.

The Beijing Olympics are set to begin on August 8th.
