Genetix announces Australian university purchase of ClonePix FL

5th October 2007

Genetix has announced that Monash University’s antibody technologies facility (MATF) has purchased the company’s ClonePix FL technology.

The firm reports that the Australian academic institution can use the technology to increase the speed of identification and segregation of a number of cell lines for monoclonal antibody (Mab) production.

Mabs are used in the detection of cancers and infectious diseases, as therapeutic agents to treat autoimmune diseases or target cancerous cells and as vaccines to boost the immune response of the body.

Director of MATF and founder of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory’s monoclonal antibody production facility Alan Sawyer stated that the university chose ClonePix due to its ability to screen thousands of cell colonies and isolate high-value clones.

"By having this level of selectivity, we can significantly shorten timescales, improve productivity, simplify downstream tissue culture and reduce costs," he added.

Earlier this year, Genetix announced the acquisition of genetic testing company Applied Imaging.
