14th August 2008

Genetix has expanded its sales and service in Asia through the establishment of new offices.

The cancer diagnostic and biopharmaceutical technologies group has opened up an office in Japan.

In order to support the opening of Genetix KK, it has hired Eiji Takagi and president, Masahiro Tateno as sales director and Katsumi Katayama as its support director.

Terry Pizzie, director of global commercial operations, said the organisation is very excited with the prospect of expanding in what he called an "important market"

Genetix had previously been represented in the region through independent distributors.

"Eiji, Masahiro and Katsumi have all previously held similar positions at analytical instrument firm, Biacore KK, which they founded and grew to be one the most successful in the Biacore family. I’m excited to welcome [them]," Mr Pizzie added.

The organisation’s head office and main research facility is based in New Milton on England’s south coast.

It also has offices in San Jose, California, Boston, Massachusetts, Munich, Germany and Newcastle upon Tyne.
