GlaxoSmithKline rolls out gum health toothpaste Parodontax in US

23rd March 2017

GlaxoSmithKline has expanded the availability of its gum health toothpaste Parodontax to the US market.

The toothpaste was originally launched in Germany in 1937 and has been proven to be 40 percent more effective at reducing bleeding gums than a sodium monofluorophosphate-based toothpaste.

It utilises the active ingredient stannous fluoride, which has been clinically demonstrated to help promote gum health by fighting plaque buildup, delivering smooth, pink gums and stronger teeth, with a tight seal between them.

These advantages come in addition to the benefits expected from an everyday toothpaste, including cavity prevention, tartar control, whitening and fresh breath.

Dr Jim DiMarino, a medical expert and dentist speaking on behalf of GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare, said: "Whether you see a drop of blood occasionally or daily in the sink when you brush your teeth, you should never ignore your bleeding gums. Bleeding gums are a warning sign that your gums need treatment."

The firm will launch Parodontax toothpaste in the US in three different variations – Clean Mint, Whitening and Extra Fresh.
