Google commences search for new UK PR partner

9th January 2017

Google has begun a search for a new UK PR partner to handle its product portfolio press office account.

According to PRWeek, the technology giant has already conducted creds meetings with a number of agencies, with successful firms expected to start pitching for the business later this month.

Google's product portfolio includes its email service Gmail, video-sharing site YouTube and the new Pixel smartphone brand, among many others. Currently, press office activity for these offerings is handled by Portland.

The company confirmed that it is "always speaking" with different agencies, but declined to offer further comment on the report. Its project-based work with Ogilvy PR is not expected to be affected by this process.

Founded in 1998, Google has grown rapidly to become one of the world's biggest technology brands, with a portfolio spanning a wide range of different areas on a global basis.

This new agency search coincided with the recent launch of the Pixel brand, which marks the company's most high-profile foray in the smartphone market to date.
