Gore Excluder study enrols first patient
WL Gore and Associates has announced that a US university has commenced enrolment for its new Gore Excluder Iliac Branch Clinical Study.
The trial is designed to assess the safety and effectiveness of the Gore Excluder Iliac Branch Endoprosthesis in the treatment of patients with common iliac artery aneurysms or aorto-iliac aneurysms, in order to support US regulatory approval of the device.
Dr Brian Peterson of St Louis University was responsible for enrolling the first patient, stating that the device's low profile design, pre-cannulated branch and bi-femoral delivery system proved beneficial.
Gore received European CE Mark approval for the new medical device last month. The first patient procedures in Europe have already been completed in London and Rome.
Ryan Takeuchi, aortic business unit leader at Gore, said: "We are excited that endovascular specialists globally are expressing such a high level of interest in the study and in iliac artery repair solutions."
