Gore receives CE Mark approval for new VBX Stent Graft

22nd December 2017

WL Gore and Associates has announced that its new Viabahn VBX Balloon Expandable Endoprosthesis has received European CE Mark approval.

The first implants of the new VBX Stent Graft have now taken place at St Franziskus Hospital in Munster, Germany, ahead of its full commercial rollout in 2018.

The new device is designed to restore blood flow to peripheral arteries and is intended for use in the treatment of iliac occlusive disease, as well as during endovascular aneurysmal repair.

Developed using small-diameter ePTFE stent graft technology, the VBX Stent Graft is configured in a range of diameters to cover a wide variety of treatment needs. It does not require pre-dilation, which reduces the number of balloons required, and the longer lengths reduce the need to use multiple stents for extensive lesions.

Eric Zacharias, vascular business leader at Gore, said: "The VBX Stent Graft combines an implant with radial strength and conformability to the anatomy, along with a trackable delivery system that results in successful outcomes for patients, providers and physicians."
