Gore Synecor Biomaterial receives Vizient innovative technology designation
Gore has announced that its Synecor Biomaterial has been granted innovative technology designation from Vizient.
Based on reviews of the product by hospital experts, Vizient – the largest member-driven healthcare performance improvement company in the US – has selected the biomaterial for this designation based on the improvements it has brought to the industry.
The material is constructed with a composite of BIO-A web scaffold and a permanent knit of dense monofilament PTFE fiber to reduce the risk of harbouring bacteria and provide high strength and rapid vascularity for durable, lasting repairs.
Its non-porous bioabsorbable film minimises tissue attachment at the visceral side, making it ideal for applications in intraperitoneal positioning, laparoscopic and robotic use.
David Lane, business unit leader for general medical products at WL Gore and Associates, said: "Our goal is to work with hospitals and surgeons in meeting their unsolved needs while delivering clear value and promoting optimal outcomes for patients."
This innovation designation was awarded by hospital experts who attended the Vizient Innovative Technology Exchange in September 2016, which gave medical technology suppliers the opportunity to demonstrate their product and gain direct feedback from 1,300 onsite clinical experts and healthcare providers.
