Heinz appoints new senior vice-president

Heinz has named Karen Alber as its new senior vice-president in recognition to her contributions to the company.

The health and consumer products company has also assigned Ms Alber to new roles as chief information officer and global programme management officer, as well as making her a member of the office of the chairman (OOC).

Among her new responsibilities will be leadership of Heinz’s newly-created programme management office, which is aimed at improving the firm’s efficiency and commercial effectiveness.

As part of the OOC, she will also play role in the company’s senior policy-making executive management group, led by chairman, president and chief executive officer William Johnson.

Heinz said: “Her promotion reflects her success in leading the development of global business processes and systems to transform the company’s capabilities [and] building a strong global team of business and information systems leaders.”

According to Heinz’s most recent fiscal report, the company experienced year-on-year sales growth in the quarter ending January 27th 2010, with its infant nutrition business sector among those to experience gains.
