Henry Schein acquires Minerva Dental

22nd April 2008

British dental consumables and equipment firm Minerva has been acquired by Henry Schein, it has been announced.

The Cardiff-based firm has been bought by the health giant for an undisclosed sum.

Stanley M Bergman, chairman and chief executive officer of Henry Schein, said the move will strengthen his organisation’s full-service dental business in Britain.

It will particularly increase operations in the south and south-west of the country, he added.

“As we focus on expanding our pan-European equipment sales and service presence, the addition of Minerva, with its experienced team and solid presence in the UK equipment market, certainly advances this goal,” Mr Bergman concluded.

Earlier this year, Henry Schein reported record results for 2007, seeing net sales of $5.9 billion (£2.95 billion), growth of more than 17 per cent on the previous year.

It noted that its dental group had continued to show strong sales and growth during the final quarter of 2007.
