Henry Schein announces assistance for Haiti earthquake aid groups

20th January 2010

Henry Schein has put forward $1 million (613,459 pounds) to help emergency aid operations in the earthquake-hit country of Haiti.

The company has been working with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to supply medical items to survivors of the natural disaster, which struck the nation over a week ago.

According to the firm, it prepared supplies of essential medicines within hours of the news breaking, through foundations such as Direct Relief International, Heart to Heart International and Medshare.

Stanley Bergman, chairman and chief executive officer of Henry Schein, commented: “As Haitian officials continue to assess the damage caused by this tragic earthquake, Henry Schein Cares is working closely with our partner NGOs to seek opportunities to support humanitarian relief efforts.”

In 2009, Henry Schein’s veterinary division and Butler Animal Health Supply merged to form Butler Schein Animal Health.

The new organisation is 50.1 per cent owned by Henry Schein.
