Henry Schein announces takeover of Custom Automated Prosthetics
Henry Schein has announced the acquisition of Custom Automated Prosthetics (CAP), a digital laboratory supply company serving US dental labs.
Acquired via Henry Schein's laboratory supply business Zahn Dental, CAP offers CAD/CAM equipment including integrated milling systems, scanners and printers, as well as a full line of zirconia materials. Its milling centre features crowns, bridges, models, surgical guides and design services.
The business is based in Massachusetts and has more than 60 employees. It generated sales of approximately $30 million (20.65 million pounds) in 2015, making it a potentially valuable asset.
Henry Schein expects the takeover to help its laboratory supply business to provide a fuller suite of interoperable solutions, services and support to meet the individual needs of dental laboratory customers.
Stanley Bergman, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Henry Schein, said: "CAP is a successful digital solutions provider to the dental laboratory market and their business is highly complementary to our Zahn Dental and Custom Milling Center business."
