Henry Schein rises to new high in Fortune 500 ranking

Henry Schein has been ranked in 243rd place in the latest Fortune 500 rankings, up from 268th place in last year's edition.

This means the company has now spent 14 consecutive years in the list of the largest US-based corporations, having made consistent progress in climbing the rankings since its first appearance in 2004.

Since Henry Schein became a public company in 1995, the company's sales have grown at a compound annual rate of 15 percent. In 2016, its net sales reached $11.6 billion (8.96 billion pounds), up from $4.1 billion in 2004.

Stanley Bergman, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Henry Schein, said this achievement "only serves to motivate us further as we continue to seek out new opportunities to better serve our customers, supplier partners, investors and society at large".

The firm is also a member of the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 indexes. Worldwide, it employs more than 21,000 staff members and serves over one million customers.
