Henry Schein to provide donations to support student-led community health missions
Henry Schein has announced that it will be making contributions to support student-led missions to tackle oral health issues in underserved communities around the world.
As part of the Henry Schein Cares Global Student Outreach Programme, a total of $265,000 (GBP 191,00) of healthcare products will be provided to nine dental schools in support of their oral health outreach missions in the US and other countries.
These products will be used during missions to provide oral healthcare education, emergency dental services, screenings, prevention, sealant application, and restorative treatment to children and adults living in poor communities.
Teams will also work to assess the oral health needs of each targeted community and work to implement a sustainable system, including the identification and training of local members of the community who can provide oral health education and care on an ongoing basis.
Stanley Bergman, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Henry Schein, said: "We are pleased to support the next generation of practitioners as they gain valuable experience, provide quality treatment and gain a greater understanding of the impact that their generosity can have on … oral health."
