Heraeus Kulzer studies highlight benefits of Venus Diamond and Pearl

20th February 2014

Heraeus Kulzer has demonstrated the benefits of its dental composite products Venus Diamond and Pearl with data from recent clinical studies.

In one trial performed at the University of Texas Health Science Centre in Houston, the colour adjustment potential (CAP) of various resin composites were assessed in simulated class I restorations.

CAP was shown to be dependent on specimen type and composite brand, with Venus Pearl confirming its excellent adaptation potential by also compensating for slight shade selection errors.

Meanwhile, an earlier in vitro study with the same objective showed Venus Diamond had already been the material to demonstrate the best CAP of all tested composites. Venus Diamond is the firmer of the two materials, while Venus Pearl offers a more creamy consistency.

The manufacturer said: "Determination of the correct tooth shade for composite restorations is still considered challenging by many dentists. The potential for good composite colour adjustment is essential for highly aesthetic restorations."

Heraeus Kulzer is the former dental division of German-based precious metal and technology company Heraeus Holding, but the organisation was acquired by Mitsui Chemicals last year.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801695970-ADNFCR
