Hill-Rom agrees takeover of cardiology company Mortara Instrument

17th January 2017

Hill-Rom has agreed a deal worth $330 million (266.79 million pounds) to purchase the medical technology firm Mortara Instrument.

A leader in diagnostic cardiology and patient monitoring solutions, technologies and devices, the company offers a wide range of products, including the Mortara, Quinton and Burdick brands.

These include resting electrocardiography, cardiac stress exercise, Holter monitoring, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation and multi-parameter patient monitoring devices, each offering sophisticated diagnostic algorithms, electronic medical record connectivity and enhanced security features.

Mortara Instrument employs more than 400 members of staff and is headquartered in Milwaukee, with offices in Australia, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. It generated approximately $115 million in revenue in 2016.

Following the takeover, the company's chief executive Dr Justin Mortara will join Hill-Rom and will continue to lead the business.

John Greisch, Hill-Rom's president and chief executive officer, said: "Together, we will offer our customers around the globe a broader range of diagnostic technologies to further our mission of improving outcomes for patients and their caregivers."
