Hologic appoints new chief executive officer

20th December 2013

Hologic has announced the appointment of Stephan MacMillan as its new president and chief executive officer (CEO), an appointment that also sees him join the board of directors.

Mr MacMillan is the former CEO of medical technology firm Stryker, a role that he occupied between 2005 and 2012. During this time, the firm achieved great success and was named as one of the world's most admired companies by Fortune in multiple occasions.

He has been appointed on the basis of his track record of delivering strong financial results and creating shareholder value. He will be tasked with leveraging Hologic's strong product platforms to drive further growth for the business.

Mr MacMillan succeeds Jack Cumming, who originally served as CEO from 2001 to 2009 before returning to the role in July 2013. He praised his successor as being a sensible long-term choice.

David LaVance Jr, chairman of Hologic's board, said: "We look forward to working closely with Steve as he develops and executes strategies to enhance Hologic's financial and operational performance."

The company also announced the appointment of Jonathan Christodoro and Samuel Merksamer as independent director this month, while engaging Dr Burton Drayer as a scientific advisor.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801675234-ADNFCR
