Hologic extends global cervical cancer initiative

12th January 2010

Hologic has announced the expansion of its Promise to Me initiative – a global scheme with the objective of raising awareness and providing donations to women who lack access to cervical cancer screening.

First launched in October 2009, the project encourages women to prioritise their health and pass on the same message to their family and acquaintances.

For each individual who makes a commitment to the cause, Hologic has pledged to donate funds to those who cannot access preventative screening.

Edward Evantash, medical director and vice-president of medical affairs at Hologic, commented: “Education about cervical cancer – and other women’s health issues – is critical to improving the health and wellbeing of women.”

Those interested in participating can find further information on promisetome.com, Twitter and Facebook.

In related news, Hologic launched the SecurView DX multimodality diagnostic mammography workstation software last month – equipment that enables radiologists to review mammography images from any modality.
