Hologic presents new Tomcat instrument at ASM 2014

23rd May 2014

Hologic has presented its Tomcat pre-analytical sample processing instrument to attendees at the recent general meeting of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) in Boston.

The company attended the event at the Boston Convention and Exhibit Center to demonstrate the benefits of the fully-automated general purpose platform, which facilitates pre-analytical sample processing by eliminating inefficient activities required to manually aliquot samples.

It incorporates Lean principles to deliver increased value through automation and is capable of performing a full range of sample processing activities for liquid-based cytology samples, as well as positive barcode matching for each sample, plus reagent addition if desired.

Hologic expects commercial shipments of the Tomcat instrument to commence in June 2014.

Dr Rohan Hastie, Hologic's diagnostics division president, said: "Adding our Tomcat instrument to the company's family of molecular testing systems extends our commitment to give customers more freedom and control over their workflow."

Earlier this month, the company announced the appointment of Robert McMahon as its new chief financial officer. He will take up his post on May 26th 2014.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801722822-ADNFCR
