Hologic to showcase new screening solutions at ECR 2013
Hologic has announced plans to showcase innovative new offerings at the European Congress of Radiology, the largest radiological meeting in Europe, which takes place in Vienna later this month.
An extensive suite of healthcare solutions for breast cancer screening and diagnosis, breast biopsy, osteoporosis risk assessment, medical MRI coils and extremity imaging will be presented, including various breast tomosynthesis innovations.
The company will demonstrate its Selenia Dimensions system and its new tomosynthesis biopsy option for the Affirm system, while various talks on the benefits of this technique will also be given.
David Harding, Hologic's senior vice-president and international general manager, noted that a growing body of clinical evidence is emerging to support the benefits of its breast tomosynthesis technology, such as "improved accuracy compared to conventional mammography, resulting in earlier detection of cancers and a reduced need for recalls".
Other products on display in Europe for the first time will include the Selenia Dimensions Avia Package and the Fluoroscan InSight-FD Mini C-arm with flat panel detector technology.
The firm also recently announced that it will be promoting its 3D mammography technology in the US with a special mobile mammography coach tour over the coming months.
