Hologic wins design award for Selenia Dimensions system

23rd June 2011

Hologic has been presented with a prestigious design award for its Selenia Dimensions 2D/3D mammography system.

The life sciences company has been honoured with a gold Medical Design Excellence Award (MDEA) at the Medical Design and Manufacturing East 2011 Conference and Exposition, due to the innovative nature of its engineering.

Ian Shaw, director of breast health advanced product development at Hologic, said: "The MDEA is welcome recognition for the achievements of the many people behind the scenes who are responsible for developing the Selenia Dimensions mammography system."

Created in collaboration with Farm Design, Selenia Dimensions is the first ever commercial mammography system approved to use 2D and 3D technologies for breast cancer screening.

It becomes the fourth Hologic product to be presented with a top award via the MDEA programme.

Earlier this month, the company announced that it is set to expand its global reach via the acquisition of TCT International, an Asia-based distributor of medical products.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800597872-ADNFCR
