Hospira expects ‘another year of growth’

Hospira expects another year of growth guided by its focus on implementing and optimising operations, it has been claimed.

These comments, from chairman and chief executive officer Christopher B Begley, came today after the firm revealed its financial results for the fourth quarter and full year ending on December 31st 2008.

For the final quarter of 2008, net sales were $914 million (614.4 million pounds) and for the whole year were $3.6 billion.

Mr Begley asserted that “generating solid revenue and strong profit growth [and] further advancing key areas of our business” had helped the company enjoy a profitable 12 months.

The business had also successfully completed the integration of the Mayne Pharma acquisition, he added.

“Hospira’s underlying business remain solid” and it is will positioned for the year ahead, Mr Begley concluded.

The firm is a global specialty pharmaceutical and medication delivery company, providing solutions to help improve the effectiveness, safety and productivity of patient care.

It obtained Mayne Pharma in 2007 in an attempt to become the world leader in specialty generic injectable pharmaceuticals.
