Hospira re-appoints former chief scientific officer

15th May 2013

Hospira has announced that Dr Sumant Ramachandra has rejoined the company in his former position of senior vice-president and chief scientific officer.

Dr Ramachandra resigned from this post earlier this year and departed the company in March 2013, but has now elected to return to Hospira to lead its research and development, regulatory and medical affairs organisation.

As part of the firm's leadership team, he has been credited with establishing one of the most robust biosimilars pipelines in the industry, while also expanding its generic injectables portfolio and augmenting its research capabilities.

Hospira interviewed a large number of potential candidates for the role, but decided that Dr Ramachandra remained the best person for the job.

The staff member expressed excitement at re-joining the "talented employees and exciting future" that first attracted him to Hospira five years ago.

F Michael Ball, chief executive officer of Hospira, said: "We determined that Sumant remained not only the best fit, but also would be best positioned to seamlessly advance our research and development priorities."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801585555-ADNFCR
